 Ceramic on Polyethylene Hip Systems

Product features

  • Femoral heads in both HIP Vitox ® alumina and Zyranox ® zirconia.
  • Reduced polyethylene wear compared to CrCo heads.
  • Zyranox ® Zirconia for greater design flexibility, smaller diameter and long neck length femoral heads.

Product range

Femoral heads are available in both HIP Vitox ® alumina and Zyranox ® zirconia materials and in a variety of designs depending on the hip replacement system. Standard products offered are summarised below. Custom designs are available on request, including large diameter femoral heads greater than 50 mm.

Allowable combinations

Both HIP Vitox ® alumina and Zyranox ® zirconia femoral heads may be combined with polyethylene cups.

Ultimate compression or burst test data for products is summarised below indicating burst strength, FDA 510K limit (46KN) and typical physiological load levels.

Clinical Data

Cup penetration data gathered over many years confirm the benefits of ceramic bearings compared to metal on polyethylene combinations.
